**DCI HELP #1 Main menu commands help file
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COMMANDS:
(N)ew Messages --- read all new messages in base
(R)ead Messages--- read messages forward/backward through a designated range
(M)y Messages ---- read messages to and from you through a designated range
(S)can Messages--- scan messages by To, From, or Subject through a designated
range
(A)dd Message ---- enter a message
(D)elete Message - delete a message either to you or from you
(B)oard Menu ----- display a listing of the bases
<^> -------------- display description of the current base
(J)ump to Base --- move to another base, enter base number or all or part of
base name
(Z)ip to New ----- move to next base with new messages
<RETURN> --------- move to next base
<+> -------------- move to next base
<-> -------------- move to previous base
(W)here Msgs ----- tells you which bases you have new messages in
(H)elp ----------- the help file you are now reading
(?) More help ---- if you are in Xpert mode, displays the main menu;
otherwise, lists this help file
(X)pert Mode ----- toggles full menu display off and on
(I)nformation ---- information on the system and bulletins
(U)tility Menu --- includes caller log, add-a-base, nonstop read
(C)onfiguration -- user and terminal configuration menus, handles
(L)ist Users ----- list all the users
(F)ile Menu ------ file section
(*)Star.Star ----- doors section
(O)perator Chat -- page sysop
(T)ime ----------- displays the current time; the time remaining during a
call is displayed under the base heading
(G)ood-bye ------- log off system/option to leave feedback
The <SPACE BAR> or S will stop most displays including menus and messages.
P will pause displays. Hit a key to continue.

DCI HELP #2 File Command Help
File Directory Help
L)ist Directories -- Display the main file directories.
Option to list files within one directory or all.
Option to View files, Download, or add to Batch Queue.
N)ew Files --------- List new files since last logon or specified date
in one directory or all.
Option to View files, Download, or add to Batch Queue.
S)earch for Files -- Search for files by filename (wildcards are okay) or
by text in file description.
Option to View files, Download, or add to Batch Queue.
D)ownload File(s) -- Transfer a file from the bbs to your computer.
U)pload a File ----- Transfer a file from your computer to the bbs.
File may be marked Open, to Sysop, or Private.
P)rivate download -- Download a file from the Private Directory. The
files in this directory are password protected. When
downloading, you must know the filename and password.
V)iew a File ------- View a text file, the contents of an archive, or read
a text file within an archive.
Y)our Stats -------- List the number of files you have uploaded and
downloaded and your participation rating on the
system.
T)ransfer Protocol-- Select your default transfer protocol.
X)pert Toggle ------ Change how your menus are displayed.
*) File Doors ------ Submenu to doors in the File Section.
?) ----------------- Read this file.
Batch Downloading -- Available when using either Ymodem or Zmodem.
Files may be added to the Batch Queue by selecting
the Q)ueue option on the Directory command line.
Files may be removed from the Queue by entering !!!
at the Enter Filename: prompt.
The prompt contains your timeleft on the system
followed by the time you will have left after the
download.
Up to eight files may be in the queue at a time.
R)emove a File ----- Remove a file that you have uploaded. Useful when
you are uploading an updated version of a program.
DCI HELP #3 Non-ANSI editor commands help
EDITOR COMMANDS:

To edit your message, enter /E on a new line. You may then use the
following commands:
/E - Editor Commands
/CC - Color Commands /L - List Message Unformatted
/CH - Change Header /LF - List Message Formatted
/CM - Clear Message /QM - Quote Message
/DL - Delete Line /RL - Replace Line
/DM - Delete Message /RS - Replace String
/H - More Help /S - Save Message
/IL - Insert Line /SM - Mass Save
/E - List the editor commands
/CC- List the color commands
/CH- Change From, Subject, or Graphics settings
/CM- Delete the message and start over.
/DL- Delete Line: this command will remove a line from your message.
/DM- Delete Message: abort message, return to base prompt.
/H - Lists a more extensive help file.
/IL- Insert Line: this command will insert an extra line in the message.
Enter the text of the new line or <RETURN> for a blank line.
/L - List the message showing color codes and included filenames,
with no wordwrap -- best for editting.
/LF- List the message in color and displays included files (if any),
this is how the message will appear after it is saved.
/QM- Include quotes from the message you are replying to.
/RL- Replace Line: use this command to replace an entire line.
The old line will be deleted and you will be prompted to enter the
new line.
/RS- Replace String: use this command to replace spelling errors.
You type: i don't like learning to use new editors.
old string: i don't (if you only enter 'i', all i's will be altered.)
new string: I don't
/S - Save the message.
/SM- Send mass mail.
Most commands can be stacked. If you just enter the command, you will be
asked for the other information the editor needs to execute the command.
Or you can enter the command, plus the info separated by semicolons or
spaces. For instance:
/rs;3;i don't;I don't replace the string "i don't" in line 3
with the string "I don't"
/rs;A;i don't;I don't replace the string "i don't" in ALL lines
with the string "I don't"
/dl;5 delete line 5
/l;4;6 list lines 4, 5, and 6
/il;5 insert a line before line 5
